Guide Me, Oh Thou Great Jehovah

I found this song for the New Year. This is the second week I have been sick with a cold, so I have not felt like posting much. I want to wish all my sweet friends a Blessed and Happy New Year.

Healing

Jeremiah 17:14
Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed.

"I have seen His ways, and will heal him."-Isaiah 57:18 It is the sole prerogative of God to remove spiritual disease. Natural disease may be instrumentally healed by men, but even then the honour is to be given to God who giveth virtue unto medicine, and bestoweth power unto the human frame to cast off disease. As for spiritual sicknesses, these remain with the great Physician alone; He claims it as His prerogative, "I kill and I make alive, I wound and I heal"; and one of the Lord's choice titles is Jehovah-Rophi, the Lord that healeth thee. "I will heal thee of thy wounds," is a promise which could not come from the lip of man, but only from the mouth of the eternal God. On this account the psalmist cried unto the Lord, "O Lord, heal me, for my bones are sore vexed," and again, "Heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee." For this, also, the godly praise the name of the Lord, saying, "He healeth all our diseases." He who made man can restore man; He who was at first the creator of our nature can new create it. What a transcendent comfort it is that in the person of Jesus "dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily!" My soul, whatever thy disease may be, this great Physician can heal thee. If He be God, there can be no limit to His power. Come then with the blind eye of darkened understanding, come with the limping foot of wasted energy, come with the maimed hand of weak faith, the fever of an angry temper, or the ague of shivering despondency, come just as thou art, for He who is God can certainly restore thee of thy plague. None shall restrain the healing virtue which proceeds from Jesus our Lord. Legions of devils have been made to own the power of the beloved Physician, and never once has He been baffled. All His patients have been cured in the past and shall be in the future, and thou shalt be one among them, my friend, if thou wilt but rest thyself in Him this night.

"Like A Rose

This is a Christmas song I wrote some years ago.

Like A Rose

He was born long ago, in a manger low,
Holy child, Prince of Peace, Son of God.
Wise men bearing gifts, knelt and worshiped Him,
Offering gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Like a rose of Sharon my Jesus lives.
Ever pure, fair and lovely is He.
He's the True Living Word, the Son of God,
Full of grace, tender mercy and love.

Shepherds watching their flocks on a starry night,
Saw a glorious light fill the sky.
Then a Heavenly Host from on high appeared,
Saying "Fear not, I bring good news."
Like a rose of Sharon my Jesus lives.
Ever pure, fair and lovely is He.
He's the True Living Word, the Son of God,
Full of grace, tender mercy and love.

Unto you, now is born, in Bethlehem,
Jesus, Savior, Christ the Lord.
Then the shepherds followed the shining star,
To the place where the infant lay.
Like a rose of Sharon my Jesus lives.
Ever pure, fair and lovely is He.
He's the True Living Word, the Son of God,
Full of grace, tender mercy and love.

God so loved the world that He gave His son,
As a light in the darkness to shine.
For the gift of God is eternal life,
Through Jesus Christ His Son.
Like a rose of Sharon my Jesus lives.
Ever pure, fair and lovely is He.
He's the True Living Word, the Son of God,
Full of grace, tender mercy and love.

More Decorations

This picture, taken in the light rain outside, did not turn out that well.

I bought this on sale at the Cracker Barell a few years ago, and I love it.

This was my mother's little Christmas tree.

I bought this cross at Belks on sale, and love it too. I leave it in the window all the time.

As I was shopping at Macy's for Christmas decorations for my niece and nephew, I had to see this. Could a musician resist this lovely ornament? They were on sale though.

Last night I went to a Christian Bookstore where I find lots of ornaments on sale. I had a fellowship card which gave me 50% off. Most of them were very inexpensive, like $2.99 or so originally.

I just could not resist this for myself. The color is more blue and green, as you will see in the mantle picture below.

Some decorations on my mantle ~ Little animals have been given to me through the years by my family.

Thank you for looking at my decorations.

Our Mighty Lord

Psalm 24:8
The Lord mighty in battle.

Well may our God be glorious in the eyes of His people, seeing that He has wrought such wonders for them, in them, and by them. For them, the Lord Jesus upon Calvary routed every foe, breaking all the weapons of the enemy in pieces by His finished work of satisfactory obedience; by His triumphant resurrection and ascension He completely overturned the hopes of hell, leading captivity captive, making a show of our enemies openly, triumphing over them by His cross. Every arrow of guilt which Satan might have shot at us is broken, for who can lay anything to the charge of God's elect? Vain are the sharp swords of infernal malice, and the perpetual battles of the serpent's seed, for in the midst of the church the lame take the prey, and the feeblest warriors are crowned. The saved may well adore their Lord for His conquests in them, since the arrows of their natural hatred are snapped, and the weapons of their rebellion broken. What victories has grace won in our evil hearts! How glorious is Jesus when the will is subdued, and sin dethroned! As for our remaining corruptions, they shall sustain an equally sure defeat, and every temptation, and doubt, and fear, shall be utterly destroyed. In the Salem of our peaceful hearts, the name of Jesus is great beyond compare: He has won our love, and He shall wear it. Even thus securely may we look for victories by us. We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. We shall cast down the powers of darkness which are in the world, by our faith, and zeal, and holiness; we shall win sinners to Jesus, we shall overturn false systems, we shall convert nations, for God is with us, and none shall stand before us. This evening let the Christian warrior chant the war song, and prepare for to-morrow's fight. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.

I wanted to decorate my little new tree with lights. I found it on sale at a fine garden shop.

A pretty cross I bought on sale at Old Salem. Actually I bought 3, one for a friend.

This is a pretty frog I bought some years ago.

These little lambs were gifts from my family.

I realized I had enough angels to have an angel tree. I used an old little tree I had.

This little old cat, "Jewels", has taken up with me. She acted like she was starving. Now she thinks she is supposed to be on my lap all the time. I have heard that the owners said their older children really don't care for their cats anymore.

This is "Honey", a stray cat that I have befriended. I made him a couple of places on the side porch to sleep in. He doesn't want to stay inside for long. The other day, little Jewels clawed him in the face!

Thanks for looking at all my pictures.
