Happy New Year

I want to share with you my friend Peggy's wonderful post, Completion, that I loved. She has added a New Year's wish with a card, beautiful scripture verses, and a video.

I looked for a New Year's hymn and found this lovely one.
Listen to this beautiful song, "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us" here. You can read about the hymn and find the lyrics here.

I am wishing for all my dear friends and everyone a blessed Happy New Year.

She Rules

I don't know what I'm going to do with this little old lady outdoor cat, Jewels, that I have taken in. She wants to go from one place to another.

So I bought her a bed that she liked for awhile.

Then I saw someone examining it and sure enough, Honey, my wildcat took over.

The other day I could not find Jewels, and since a lower door was open a little, she was in a kitchen cabinet. Then I found her here on top of the hutch.

Lately she has been on a bookcase in the hall, but she really seems to enjoy this cozy place.

She is a very disobedient child. Since I don't want her scratching up what I call my new stove, I guess I'll have to close her in the living room and hall. These two are really a mess and are too expensive; but they do keep me company.

No More Weeping

Isaiah 65:19
The voice of weeping shall be no more heard.

The glorified weep no more, for all outward a causes of grief are gone. There are no broken friendships, nor blighted prospects in heaven. Poverty, famine, peril, persecution, and slander, are unknown there. No pain distresses, no thought of death or bereavement saddens. They weep no more, for they are perfectly sanctified. No "evil heart of unbelief" prompts them to depart from the living God; they are without fault before His thrown, and are fully conformed to His image. Well may they cease to mourn who have ceased to sin. They weep no more, because all fear of change is past. They know that they are eternally secure. Sin is shut out, and they are shut in. They dwell within a city which shall never be stormed; they bask in a sun which shall never set; they drink of a river which shall never dry; they pluck fruit from a tree which shall never wither. Countless cycles may revolve, but eternity shall not be exhausted, and while eternity endures, their immortality and blessedness shall co-exist with it. They are for ever with the Lord. They weep no more, because every desire is fulfilled. They cannot wish for anything which they have not in possession. Eye and ear, heart and hand, judgment, imagination, hope, desire, will, all the faculties, are completely satisfied; and imperfect as our present ideas are of the things which God hath prepared for them that love him, yet we know enough, by the revelation of the Spirit, that the saints above are supremely blessed. The joy of Christ, which is an infinite fulness of delight, is in them. They bathe themselves in the bottomless, shoreless sea of infinite beatitude. That same joyful rest remains for us. It may not be far distant. Ere long the weeping willow shall be exchanged for the palm-branch of victory, and sorrow's dewdrops will be transformed into the pearls of everlasting bliss. "Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

Psalm 147: 16, 17

Andrea Bocelli - The Lord's Prayer

I was shopping last night in Barnes and Noble, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear "The Lord's Prayer" playing. And then "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and other carols were played. As I was checking out, I told them how much I loved the music. This is a prayer we need to be praying in these difficult times.

Quiet Resting Places

Isaiah 32:18
My people shall dwell in quiet resting places.

Peace and rest belong not to the unregenerate, they are the peculiar possession of the Lord's people, and of them only. The God of Peace gives perfect peace to those whose hearts are stayed upon Him. When man was unfallen, his God gave him the flowery bowers of Eden as his quiet resting places; alas! how soon sin blighted the fair abode of innocence. In the day of universal wrath when the flood swept away a guilty race, the chosen family were quietly secured in the resting-place of the ark, which floated them from the old condemned world into the new earth of the rainbow and the covenant, herein typifying Jesus, the ark of our salvation. Israel rested safely beneath the blood-besprinkled habitations of Egypt when the destroying angel smote the first-born; and in the wilderness the shadow of the pillar of cloud, and the flowing rock, gave the weary pilgrims sweet repose. At this hour we rest in the promises of our faithful God, knowing that His words are full of truth and power; we rest in the doctrines of His word, which are consolation itself; we rest in the covenant of His grace, which is a haven of delight. More highly favoured are we than David in Adullam, or Jonah beneath his gourd, for none can invade or destroy our shelter. The person of Jesus is the quiet resting-place of His people, and when we draw near to Him in the breaking of the bread, in the hearing of the word, the searching of the Scriptures, prayer, or praise, we find any form of approach to Him to be the return of peace to our spirits.
"I hear the words of love, I gaze upon the blood,
I see the mighty sacrifice, and I have peace with God.
'Tis everlasting peace, sure as Jehovah's name,
'Tis stable as His steadfast throne, for evermore the same:
The clouds may go and come, and storms may sweep my sky,
This blood-sealed friendship changes not, the cross is ever nigh."

Like A Rose

This is a Christmas song I wrote some years ago. I am going to post it again this year, as some of my friends may not have heard it.

He was born long ago, in a manger low,
Holy child, Prince of Peace, Son of God.
Wise men bearing gifts, knelt and worshiped Him,
Offering gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Like a rose of Sharon my Jesus lives.
Ever pure, fair and lovely is He.
He's the True Living Word, the Son of God,
Full of grace, tender mercy and love.

Shepherds watching their flocks on a starry night,
Saw a glorious light fill the sky.
Then a Heavenly Host from on high appeared,
Saying "Fear not, I bring good news."
Like a rose of Sharon my Jesus lives.
Ever pure, fair and lovely is He.
He's the True Living Word, the Son of God,
Full of grace, tender mercy and love.

Unto you, now is born, in Bethlehem,
Jesus, Savior, Christ the Lord.
Then the shepherds followed the shining star,
To the place where the infant lay.
Like a rose of Sharon my Jesus lives.
Ever pure, fair and lovely is He.
He's the True Living Word, the Son of God,
Full of grace, tender mercy and love.

God so loved the world that He gave His son,
As a light in the darkness to shine.
For the gift of God is eternal life,
Through Jesus Christ His Son.
Like a rose of Sharon my Jesus lives.
Ever pure, fair and lovely is He.
He's the True Living Word, the Son of God,
Full of grace, tender mercy and love.

Mighty in Battle

Psalm 24:8
The Lord mighty in battle.

Well may our God be glorious in the eyes of His people, seeing that He has wrought such wonders for them, in them, and by them. For them, the Lord Jesus upon Calvary routed every foe, breaking all the weapons of the enemy in pieces by His finished work of satisfactory obedience; by His triumphant resurrection and ascension He completely overturned the hopes of hell, leading captivity captive, making a show of our enemies openly, triumphing over them by His cross. Every arrow of guilt which Satan might have shot at us is broken, for who can lay anything to the charge of God's elect? Vain are the sharp swords of infernal malice, and the perpetual battles of the serpent's seed, for in the midst of the church the lame take the prey, and the feeblest warriors are crowned. The saved may well adore their Lord for His conquests in them, since the arrows of their natural hatred are snapped, and the weapons of their rebellion broken. What victories has grace won in our evil hearts! How glorious is Jesus when the will is subdued, and sin dethroned! As for our remaining corruptions, they shall sustain an equally sure defeat, and every temptation, and doubt, and fear, shall be utterly destroyed. In the Salem of our peaceful hearts, the name of Jesus is great beyond compare: He has won our love, and He shall wear it. Even thus securely may we look for victories by us. We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. We shall cast down the powers of darkness which are in the world, by our faith, and zeal, and holiness; we shall win sinners to Jesus, we shall overturn false systems, we shall convert nations, for God is with us, and none shall stand before us. This evening let the Christian warrior chant the war song, and prepare for to-morrow's fight. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.
