Please no "Mother Nature"

I am the Light

I don't know about you, but it really disturbs me to hear a weather forecaster talking about help needed from mother nature. I heard part of a sermon about the providence of God. The preacher was also referring to some awesome things God had done in early battles for George Washington and some others. He was talking about God riding upon the storm, His footsteps upon the sea, and how He rides upon the shore. Some Bible verses I hear I think are awesome.

I looked up some verses ~

2Sa 22:12 -
And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.

Job 20:6 -
Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;

Job 22:14 -
Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

Job 26:8 -
He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

Job 36:29 -
Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?


Job 37:16 -
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?

Ps 18:11 -
He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

Ps 18:12 -
At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

Ps 78:23 -
Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

Ps 97:2 -
Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

Ps 104:3 -
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

Ps 147:8 -
Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

Da 7:13 -
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

Joe 2:2 -
A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

Na 1:3 -
The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

Mt 24:30 -
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Genesis 3:8
The voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.


My soul, now that the cool of the day has come, retire awhile and hearken to the voice of thy God. He is always ready to speak with thee when thou art prepared to hear. If there be any slowness to commune it is not on His part, but altogether on thine own, for He stands at the door and knocks, and if His people will but open He rejoices to enter. O that God would speak to me. Speak, Lord, for Thy servant heareth! O that He would walk with me; I am ready to give up my whole heart and mind to Him, and every other thought is hushed. I am only asking what He delights to give. I am sure that He will condescend to have fellowship with me, for He has given me His Holy Spirit to abide with me for ever. Sweet is the cool twilight, when every star seems like the eye of heaven, and the cool wind is as the breath of celestial love. I really like what Karla Dornacher wrote in her E-Newsletter ~

As much as I'm enjoying June, I'm still looking forward to next month and celebrating the 4th of July! Partly because of Independence Day and partly because the 4th is my youngest granddaughter's birthday! But as I worked on the "Set Free" Clip Art Kit, I couldn't help but think about, not only the freedoms we can so easily take for granted living in this great nation, but also the freedom that is ours in Christ and how important it is for us to walk in and celebrate that freedom every day. Jesus said, "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free." True freedom is knowing the truth... the truth of who God is and the truth of who we are in Him... the truth of God's Word vs. the lies of the enemy and the culture we live in... the truth that sets us free from the past, empowers us to live today, and leads us into eternity.

May the stars and stripes remind you, not only of 4th of July, but of your freedom in Christ... and cause you to stop and consider the cost of both these privileges so undeserved!
