World Needs Jesus

Jesus Spreading the Word by Myung Bo
Jesus Spreading the Word

I just had to share with you what I just saw on my Direct TV, a Billy Graham TV channel. His son Franklin Graham is really working hard to share the gospel. He is even training young people to evangelize. I believe we all need to be sharing the good news and telling the world that God is our Hope. Check out these two websites.

Cold Weather

A view of a snow-covered bridge in the woods by Richard Nowitz
A view of a snow-covered bridge in the woods

Psalm 147: 16, 17
He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes. He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?

I often think of this verse when is is very cold outside. I am grateful we do not get too much snow and ice down here. And I hope I am not speaking too soon.

Rest

Heavens Gateway by Linda Braucht
Heavens Gateway

Hebrews 4:9
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

How different will be the state of the believer in heaven from what it is here! Here he is born to toil and suffer weariness, but in the land of the immortal, fatigue is never known. Anxious to serve his Master, he finds his strength unequal to his zeal: his constant cry is, "Help me to serve Thee, O my God." If he be thoroughly active, he will have much labour; not too much for his will, but more than enough for his power, so that he will cry out, "I am not wearied of the labour, but I am wearied in it." Ah! Christian, the hot day of weariness lasts not for ever; the sun is nearing the horizon; it shall rise again with a brighter day than thou hast ever seen upon a land where they serve God day and night, and yet rest from their labours. Here, rest is but partial, there, it is perfect. Here, the Christian is always unsettled; he feels that he has not yet attained. There, all are at rest; they have attained the summit of the mountain; they have ascended to the bosom of their God. Higher they cannot go. Ah, toil-worn labourer, only think when thou shalt rest for ever! Canst thou conceive it? It is a rest eternal; a rest that "remaineth." Here, my best joys bear "mortal" on their brow; my fair flowers fade; my dainty cups are drained to dregs; my sweetest birds fall before Death's arrows; my most pleasant days are shadowed into nights; and the flood-tides of my bliss subside into ebbs of sorrow; but there, everything is immortal; the harp abides unrusted, the crown unwithered, the eye undimmed, the voice unfaltering, the heart unwavering, and the immortal being is wholly absorbed in infinite delight. Happy day! happy! when mortality shall be swallowed up of life, and the Eternal Sabbath shall begin.

A Post For These Times

I just had to refer you to Jill's post here with words from our forefathers about our country, since everybody wants change. These videos really give you something to think about. How far we have strayed from our beginnings! Many are going to be surprised at the changes that will take place. I have even heard speculation about changing the Constitution.

God, Our Hope

I have been listening to Rush Limbaugh today, and he was very good at explaining what is happening today. So many people were calling in and talking about hope. I believe that we, as Christians, need to get busy and spread the good news that GOD IS OUR HOPE!

1Timothy 1:1 Paul, An apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

I am posting again what I posted last year on hope.

Little Hope by Dona Gelsinger
Little Hope

I often used to set scripture to music. I hope the following song I wrote and scripture on hope will be an encouragement to others.

Psalm 42:11
Psalm 43: 3,4

Why art thou cast down, O my soul, O my soul?
And why art thou disquieted within me?
Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise Him,
Who is the health of my countenance and my God, and my God.
O send out thy light and thy truth,
Then will I go to the altar of God, unto God, my exceeding joy.

Hi There

Well, I have just read something about a De Lurking week. This is to encourage folks who visit your blog to leave a comment. It would be nice to know those who read my blog that I don't know about. I would love to visit you. And I am very curious. I have noticed a visitor who used to visit me all the time from Reston, Virginia. It could be someone I know, as I am not great at knowing where everybody is from. Please do leave a message, and let me know who you are. Thank you so much friends.

He Gathers His Lambs

Jesus the Shepherd by Myung Bo
Jesus the Shepherd

Isaiah 40:11
He shall gather the lambs with His arm.

Our good Shepherd has in His flock a variety of experiences, some are strong in the Lord, and others are weak in faith, but He is impartial in His care for all His sheep, and the weakest lamb is as dear to Him as the most advanced of the flock. Lambs are wont to lag behind, prone to wander, and apt to grow weary, but from all the danger of these infirmities the Shepherd protects them with His arm of power. He finds new-born souls, like young lambs, ready to perish-He nourishes them till life becomes vigorous; He finds weak minds ready to faint and die-He consoles them and renews their strength. All the little ones He gathers, for it is not the will of our heavenly Father that one of them should perish. What a quick eye He must have to see them all! What a tender heart to care for them all! What a far- reaching and potent arm, to gather them all! In His lifetime on earth He was a great gatherer of the weaker sort, and now that He dwells in heaven, His loving heart yearns towards the meek and contrite, the timid and feeble, the fearful and fainting here below. How gently did He gather me to Himself, to His truth, to His blood, to His love, to His church! With what effectual grace did He compel me to come to Himself! Since my first conversion, how frequently has He restored me from my wanderings, and once again folded me within the circle of His everlasting arm! The best of all is, that He does it all Himself personally, not delegating the task of love, but condescending Himself to rescue and preserve His most unworthy servant. How shall I love Him enough or serve Him worthily? I would fain make His name great unto the ends of the earth, but what can my feebleness do for Him? Great Shepherd, add to Thy mercies this one other, a heart to love Thee more truly as I ought.

Glory of God

Heaven's Glory by Larry Dyke
Heaven's Glory

Revelation 21:23
The city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it.

Yonder in the better world, the inhabitants are independent of all creature comforts. They have no need of raiment; their white robes never wear out, neither shall they ever be defiled. They need no medicine to heal diseases, "for the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick." They need no sleep to recruit their frames-they rest not day nor night, but unweariedly praise Him in His temple. They need no social relationship to minister comfort, and whatever happiness they may derive from association with their fellows is not essential to their bliss, for their Lord's society is enough for their largest desires. They need no teachers there; they doubtless commune with one another concerning the things of God, but they do not require this by way of instruction; they shall all be taught of the Lord. Ours are the alms at the king's gate, but they feast at the table itself. Here we lean upon the friendly arm, but there they lean upon their Beloved and upon Him alone. Here we must have the help of our companions, but there they find all they want in Christ Jesus. Here we look to the meat which perisheth, and to the raiment which decays before the moth, but there they find everything in God. We use the bucket to fetch us water from the well, but there they drink from the fountain head, and put their lips down to the living water. Here the angels bring us blessings, but we shall want no messengers from heaven then. They shall need no Gabriels there to bring their love-notes from God, for there they shall see Him face to face. Oh! what a blessed time shall that be when we shall have mounted above every second cause and shall rest upon the bare arm of God! What a glorious hour when God, and not His creatures; the Lord, and not His works, shall be our daily joy! Our souls shall then have attained the perfection of bliss.

I guess the secular world has always been against the Christians. I received this scripture in my email yesterday.

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed.

I am getting back into the political links today, because some have come to my attention.

Rejoice in Him

Song of Solomon 1:4
We will be glad and rejoice in Thee.

We will be glad and rejoice in Thee. We will not open the gates of the year to the dolorous notes of the sackbut, but to the sweet strains of the harp of joy, and the high sounding cymbals of gladness. "O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise unto the rock of our salvation." We, the called and faithful and chosen, we will drive away our griefs, and set up our banners of confidence in the name of God. Let others lament over their troubles, we who have the sweetening tree to cast into Marah's bitter pool, with joy will magnify the Lord. Eternal Spirit, our effectual Comforter, we who are the temples in which Thou dwellest, will never cease from adoring and blessing the name of Jesus. We WILL, we are resolved about it, Jesus must have the crown of our heart's delight; we will not dishonour our Bridegroom by mourning in His presence. We are ordained to be the minstrels of the skies, let us rehearse our everlasting anthem before we sing it in the halls of the New Jerusalem. We will BE GLAD AND REJOICE: two words with one sense, double joy, blessedness upon blessedness. Need there be any limit to our rejoicing in the Lord even now? Do not men of grace find their Lord to be camphire and spikenard, calamus and cinnamon even now, and what better fragrance have they in heaven itself? We will be glad and rejoice IN THEE. That last word is the meat in the dish, the kernel of the nut, the soul of the text. What heavens are laid up in Jesus! What rivers of infinite bliss have their source, ay, and every drop of their fulness in Him! Since, O sweet Lord Jesus, Thou art the present portion of Thy people, favour us this year with such a sense of Thy preciousness, that from its first to its last day we may be glad and rejoice in Thee. Let January open with joy in the Lord, and December close with gladness in Jesus.

Devotional by Charles Spurgeon
