Snowed In

We had 8 inches of snow here in NC this weekend. It was 12 degrees last night, so it is very cold. I have not even been outside in it. I did take some pictures from inside.

This one is the view across the street from me.

This is to my left down the street.

And this picture is to my right looking up the street. I live near the bottom of a hill.

I happened to notice some wonderful signs of spring in all this snow.

Blooms on my dogwood tree.

This is taken from my front window. You can see how deep the snow is by my little fencing in front of my flower garden. The sun was shining today, and the shadows were so pretty. I can tell that the snow melted a couple of inches by looking at the fencing later in the day.

And I saw another sign of spring inside today. This little shamrock was blooming beside my cold kitchen window.

Thanks for visiting and looking at my pictures.

Word Filled Wednesday

Prayer for Peace

I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and
set me in a large place. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear:
what can man do unto me?

A Lovely Award

My friend, Lori, at The Mitchell's has blessed me with this lovely award.

Thank you so much, Lori. That is so sweet of you.

I am supposed to tell six things that you might not know about me. I recently did about nine things I believe. So I had to think of six more. :)

1. I'm the oldest of 4 children.

2. My favorite color is blue.

3. I will be the big seven 0 on April Fool's Day. Nobody would believe my Daddy when I was born, since I was early. Finally my Grandmother did believe him.

4. This city girl plays Farm games on Facebook with her friends.

5. I have no false teeth.

6. I seem to be getting shorter, only 5'2".

Now the hard part is to pass this on to 6 other gorgeous blogger friends. I wanted to choose all of you, but I know not all of my friends accept awards. Anyway, I love you all and think you are all gorgeous blogger friends.

God's Help in Trouble

My Saviour

Psalm 46

1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

Ps 121:1 -
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

Isa 41:10 -
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

I am praying for all the people over in Haiti.

Sea of Galilee, Israel

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope
is in the LORD his God: Which made heaven, and earth, the sea,
and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever.

Crown of Righteousness

2 Timothy 4:8
There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.

Doubting one! thou hast often said, "I fear I shall never enter heaven." Fear not! all the people of God shall enter there. I love the quaint saying of a dying man, who exclaimed, "I have no fear of going home; I have sent all before me; God's finger is on the latch of my door, and I am ready for Him to enter." "But," said one, "are you not afraid lest you should miss your inheritance?" "Nay," said he, "nay; there is one crown in heaven which the angel Gabriel could not wear, it will fit no head but mine. There is one throne in heaven which Paul the apostle could not fill; it was made for me, and I shall have it." O Christian, what a joyous thought! thy portion is secure; "there remaineth a rest." "But cannot I forfeit it?" No, it is entailed. If I be a child of God I shall not lose it. It is mine as securely as if I were there. Come with me, believer, and let us sit upon the top of Nebo, and view the goodly land, even Canaan. Seest thou that little river of death glistening in the sunlight, and across it dost thou see the pinnacles of the eternal city? Dost thou mark the pleasant country, and all its joyous inhabitants? Know, then, that if thou couldst fly across thou wouldst see written upon one of its many mansions, "This remaineth for such a one; preserved for him only. He shall be caught up to dwell for ever with God." Poor doubting one, see the fair inheritance; it is thine. If thou believest in the Lord Jesus, if thou hast repented of sin, if thou hast been renewed in heart, thou art one of the Lord's people, and there is a place reserved for thee, a crown laid up for thee, a harp specially provided for thee. No one else shall have thy portion, it is reserved in heaven for thee, and thou shalt have it ere long, for there shall be no vacant thrones in glory when all the chosen are gathered in.

A Funny Update

Recently I posted about my little old lady gray cat and how She Rules, sleeping in various places. I decided to try to cover my stove, so she would not scratch it up. I was really amazed when I saw this.

I can yell, say no, etc., but it does not phase her. Well, she will jump down sometimes now when I loudly tell her no. She seems to love to go there when I am in this room on the computer, and all is quiet. I have always had dogs, and cats are a mess!

Isaiah 32:18
My people shall dwell in quiet resting places.

For some reason, my mind seemed to be on quiet resting places during December. I saved this verse in December.

Pretty Bouquet of Flowers

My sweet friend, Linda at Being Woven, had given me this pretty flower award. I really enjoy Linda's blog, as she is a wonderful writer. Thank you, Linda.

Of course, there are rules to follow that come with this award. So ...I will begin by telling you 7 things you don't know or may not know about me.

1. The only seafood I eat is salmon and flounder. I know I am funny and picky about what I eat.

2. In high school I took piano lessons at Salem College for a short time.

3. I am a good bowler and made an A in it in college. I was in a bowling league when growing up, and we won a trophy. My Daddy used to take me bowling when I was very young.

4. Smoke, strong perfume and odors really bother me and cause me to cough. It is associated with asthma.

5. I have a BA degree in Education from UNC at Chapel Hill.

6. I once had my Real Estate Broker's License, and was Chairman of the Hospitality Committee of the Board of Realtors.

7. I love the beach, but get sunburned very easily with my fair skin.

I tried hard to think of some things you might not know about me.

I would like to share the flowers with my sweet friends who visit me. I love and appreciate so much my sisters in Christ.
