And Can it be That I should Gain
I recently heard a couple of people say that this is their favorite hymn. I was not too familiar with it, but it is very pretty.

I had never heard this before...I especially liked the line that said..."My chains fell off, my heart was free, I rose, went forth, and followed thee. "
I LOVE this old hymn! Such incredible truths!
It's a majestic hymn that I enjoyed singing in years gone by.
Blessings Cathy, Thanks for sharing this classic Charles Wesley Hymn! I agree with Smiling Sally that it's majestic and with Linda of it's incredible truths! I can recall the melody & it was familiar but for some reason the words being so clearly articulated, oh maybe because I could read along...they had a new meaning!
Thank you for sharing this longtime favorite of mine! I love the words and the music makes my heart soar. This is one I truly LOVE to play on the piano when the congregation sings it. I seem to forget where I am and I let loose and let my fingers go - in praise to the Lord. ~Adrienne~
We sang that in my dad's church when I was a child. I absolutely LOVED that song. It has such a great message!
Have a wonderful weekend.

That's one of my favs too.
Men like Charles Wesley were indeed a gift to God's people. This is one of the most treasured and as I read in a book on hymns, it is one of the most deeply moving of all hymns. Glory be to the name of Jesus! This hymn is so full of strong doctrinal teaching on the gospel message and that's one of the reasons I love it so. Thank you so much for posting it, Cathy. I absolutely love this hymn and love this particular rendition of it--sang the way the hymnwriter intended, full of praise for God's redemption of a sinner like me.
Hi Sis,
I never heard this one as well, but I love the old hymns, they are everlasting and live on for generations to enjoy. I guess the words have so mich meaning and it just touches you right where you are as you listen to it and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you.
Thank for your visit and encouraging words you always bless my heart.
