"Abide With Me"

Midsummer Night's Dream by Liv Carson
Midsummer Night's Dream

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

A decayed tree stump in a field of golden grass by Raul Touzon
A decayed tree stump in a field of golden grass

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day; Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away; Change and decay in all around I see; O Thou Who changest not, abide with me.

Christ in Clouds by Danny Hahlbohm
Christ in Clouds

I need Thy presence every passing hour. What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power? Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be? Through clouds and sunshine, O abide with me.

You Are Safe by David Sorensen
You Are Safe

I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless; Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness. Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Homecoming by Danny Hahlbohm
Homecoming

Hold Thou Thy Cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies; Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Words: Henry F. Lyte
Music: William H. Monk

I did not realize that Lyte wrote this as he was dying of tuberculosis.

You can listen to the hymn at Cyber Hymnal.

Thank you, Dear Candy. I was changing the last picture, after reading the circumstances of the author, who wrote the words, just as you left your comment. :-) You have a wonderful weekend too!

I didn't realize the circumstances of the author either..that makes the hymn even more beautiful... and of course your pictures are once again perfect with the song

Thank you sweet Mimi. I have always loved the hymn, but did notice when choosing pictures, there was some darkness in it. At first I had a picture of the cross on a hill for the last one, but decided to change it. I had to get busy today, after all the nice things you said. :-)

This has always been a favorite of mine. You and I are really kindred about the hymns.
Come over to my place, Cathy. You're a winner!

Thanks and you are welcome. I thought I remembered that the author had been very sick.
