"Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee"

Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee

Summer Garden by Alfred Fontville de Breanski
Summer Garden

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory,
Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee,
Opening to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness,
Drive the dark of doubt away; Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day.

All Thy works with joy surround Thee, Earth and heaven reflect Thy rays, Stars and angels sing around Thee, Center of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, Flowery meadow, flashing sea, Chanting bird and flowing fountain Call us to rejoice in Thee.

The Greatest Virtue is Love
The Greatest Virtue is Love

Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest, Wellspring of the joy of living, Ocean depth of happy rest! Thou, our Father, Christ, our Brother, All who live in love are Thine; Teach us how to love each other, Lift us to the joy divine.

Sweet By and By by Lorraine Brewer
Sweet By and By

Mortals, join the happy chorus Which the morning stars began;
Father love is reigning o'er us, Brother love binds man to man.
Ever singing, march we onward, Victors in the midst of strife;
Joyful music leads us Sunward In the triumph song of life.

Words: Henry van Dyke
Music: Ludwig van Beethoven

that's a cool idea to put the words and pics to a beloved hymn together like that ... gives it your personal touch!

i was singing it as i looked at pics!

Thanks, Saija. Actually, I got this idea from Jodi at Deputy Domain. She posts the most beautiful hymns on Sundays, and chooses perfect pictures. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have been a little slow today, as I have company- my friend's little dog, I am keeping for three days. :-)

it seems summers and blogging don't go together, eh?

i've just not been able to post as much ... i'm just enjoying being in town!

hope you enjoy frolicking with the puppy!

Believe me, Dear, Saija, It's too hot to frolick. :-) He's a little short, kind of heavy doggy, but he does try to kick up a little trot as we walk. I have allergies and asthma, so I stay in during this hot weather. I have an AC unit here, which I don't keep on high all the time. But it is cool enough. I'm glad you are enjoying being in town and off work. Me too, after retiring last summer.

Thank you, Jodi. Thanks to you, I can show the hymns this way. You know how long it takes to do the pictures. I believe I am improving a little. :-)

LOL ~ Cathy, indeed I do know how long it takes. Until one does it ... they probably do not realize how time consuming one little "ole" hymn can be. It's the searching for that perfect picture that accentuates just the line you want. I am really enjoying your hymn posts and am so glad to see someone else doing this. :o)
