The Name of Jesus

I thought I would post this hymn today to encourage others.

How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds

Names of Christ
Names of Christ

How sweet the name of Jesus sounds In a believer's ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals, his wounds, And drives away his fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole And calms the troubled breast;
'Tis manna to the hungry soul And to the weary, rest.

Dear name! the rock on which I build, My shield and hiding place;
My never failing treasure, filled With boundless stores of grace!

Jesus, my Shepherd, Brother, Friend, My prophet, Priest and King,
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End, Accept this praise I bring.

Till then I would Thy love proclaim With ev 'ry fleeting breath;
And may the music of Thy name Refresh my soul in death.

Text: John Newton
Music: Alexander R. Reinagle

You can hear the music at Cyber Hymnal.

This song came to me one day while driving to the mall.

A New Song

Beautiful Is His Name

Beautiful is His name, the name above all other names,
The name of Jesus.
At His name, all knees must bow in heavn and on the earth,
At the name of Jesus.
For, no other name, is filled with power, and authority,
Majesty and dominion over all the earth,
The name of the Lord.
Beautiful is His name.
Beautiful is His name.
Beautiful is the name of the Lord.

Beautiful is his name, the name of God's beloved son,
The name of Jesus.
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Mighty God,
Is our Lord Jesus.
At His very name, all knees must bow in heavn and on the earth.
For He reigns in power over all the earth,
Christ Jesus, our Lord.
Beautiful is His name.
Beautiful is His name.
Beautiful is the name of the Lord.

Hello, Cathy. I just stopped by to say hello. I saw your comment on my friend Beka's post yesterday and since you mentioned something about hymns, I came over to see. I'm very excited to find someone else who loves the old hymns, which means I'll probably be a frequent visitor. So I wanted to make your acquaintance. I see some friends of mine visit here, so I feel I'm in good company.

I also was excited to see the "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" video that I absolutely adore and also posted on my Scraps blog some time ago. Isn't it just beautiful? From time to time, I still go back to listen to it.

Thanks for all your work with the hymns and with the beautiful artwork. You and Jodi have a lot in common. Keep up the good work and welcome to Blogland!

Thank you, Maxine, for stopping by to say hello. I'm glad you also love the old hymns.

I knew someone else had shown that video, but at the time could not remember who. I was just so happy to see it again. I had sent it to Jodi, knowing what a music lover she is; and she could not see it all for some reason. It is just beautiful.

I appreciate your kind comments and welcome.

Hi Cathy! Just wanted to say "thank you" for being such an encouragement in response to my comment challenge! You helped make my day.

Oh, and I love that "Names of Jesus" poster. My husband has a framed copy of that in his office.

You are welcome, Cindy, and I am glad I encouraged you a little. :-)

They have many of the Jesus Names posters like that one, even framed ones, at All Posters.
