"Blessed Assurance"

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Saviour all the day long; This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Saviour all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst in my sight; Angels descending, bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Refrain

Perfect submission, all is at rest, I in my Saviour am happy and blest, Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Saviour all the day long; This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Saviour all the day long.

Read how this beautiful hymn was written by Fanny Crosby and her friend, Phoebe Knapp. There is other interesting information about references to the hymn by soldiers found at Cyber Hymnal.

I also found the hymn on another neat website found here.

This was my mother's favorite song, Cathy. We sang it at her funeral. I never hear it without thinking of her. A wonder hymn.

I love this hymn. I have a piano arrangement of this that I love to play; my heart just swells when I get to that chorus.
