Really Severe Thunderstorm
The other day, we had a very bad storm. I was on the way out to eat late one afternoon. I heard storm warnings for surrounding counties on the radio. After eating at the bagel shop, the sky was really dark, and a storm was coming up, so I went into Staples. I saw all kinds of damage on the way home. I was hoping and praying that the big trees around my house had not fallen on the house. When I turned into my street, I saw a tree (smaller than mine) on a neighbor's roof. Big limbs were down in my back yard, and lots of limbs in the front from my two big trees. Later, I heard popping, saw sparks and smoke at my two neighbor's houses beside me. I believe it was a transformer, and lines were down in their yards. Then my power went out. When I called, they said it would be be fixed by Sunday night at 11:00PM. It involved four houses. I saw the power company come down the street, so I thought I would just stay here with candles and flashlights, hoping they would fix it soon. I opened the window in my bedroom, and it was cooler. I think so many people called that they fixed it by 9:30AM the next morning. The neighbor's beside me are in their 80's, and one is not well. The mess is still in the back yard!
I believe I will just have to have those huge tree limbs cut in the fall. I know it will be so expensive.
And another big limb was broken way up higher than this one ~
What a mess, huh ~

I live in South Florida, and I just paid to have my big oak tree pruned to avoid this.
Thank you, Oswald ~
smilingsal, I just had 5 giant pine trees beside my house cut down. Now I have 4 other big trees.
Wow! That looks like our city! A tree was completely uprooted in our Pastor's front yard,(I think on Saturday) and there are still branches around many streets. Guess we're all getting to share the storms!
By the way...I got my gift from your giveaway, and it's beautiful! I have it hanging in my office. The wall is yellow, so it looks very pretty there. Thank you!
Our storm was Saturday too, and the limbs are still on our street.
I'm glad you finally received your gift, and that it looks pretty in your office. :o)
Wow Cathy! That was quite a storm and I'm sure most are thankful that no one was hurt.
Blessings,
Dallas
Wow! Glad you weren't hurt!
We had a bad one here last weekend and lightning got our hot water heater. Thankfully the plumber was able to fix it without us having to buy another one, however, I believe he stiffed us on the bill. :-/
Dallas, yes, we are thankful. The neighbor whose line was in her yard, was in the basement with her little dog. I'm glad I was not home during the storm.
Sharon, thank you, and that is terrible and scary about your hot water heater!
That storm was intense! So thankful you're all right, Cathy.
Thank you, sweet friend.
