Words of Jesus

Jesus Spreading the Word by Myung Bo
Jesus Spreading the Word

John 6:28-29

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

John 6:32-33
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily,verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

John 6:35-40

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

God's Presence

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Where can I flee from Your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there,
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there Your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.

Psalm 139: 7-10

I know this is not my favorite King James Version, but I read this in Beth Moore's devotional one morning, and thought about posting it. I may be the NIV translation.

Severe Thunderstorm

We were blessed this afternoon with a very refreshing rain. We have had a drought for awhile now. Grass was turning very brown. I heard on the weather report that winds were 60 to 70 mph, and I did hear some sirens. After the storm, it felt so cool outside that I did not mind picking up all the sticks and branches. Temperatures have been in the 90's, so 70's are quite a relief. I heard a man on our local radio station say he was so excited about the rain, he felt like walking home. And of course, I did take my little camera outside to take some pictures. It is so nice to have time to enjoy God's beautiful creation. I did another post on refreshing rain here. You can click on the pictures for more details.

Rose of Sharon

I am the rose of Sharon.

Whatever there may be of beauty in the material world, Jesus Christ possesses all that in the spiritual world in a tenfold degree. Amongst flowers the rose is deemed the sweetest, but Jesus is infinitely more beautiful in the garden of the soul than the rose can in the gardens of earth. He takes the first place as the fairest among ten thousand. He is the sun, and all others are the stars; the heavens and the day are dark in comparison with Him, for the King in His beauty transcends all. "I am the rose of Sharon." This was the best and rarest of roses. Jesus is not "the rose" alone, He is "the rose of Sharon," just as He calls His righteousness "gold," and then adds, "the gold of Ophir"-the best of the best. He is positively lovely, and superlatively the loveliest. There is variety in His charms. The rose is delightful to the eye, and its scent is pleasant and refreshing; so each of the senses of the soul, whether it be the taste or feeling, the hearing, the sight, or the spiritual smell, finds appropriate gratification in Jesus. Even the recollection of His love is sweet. Take the rose of Sharon, and pull it leaf from leaf, and lay by the leaves in the jar of memory, and you shall find each leaf fragrant long afterwards, filling the house with perfume. Christ satisfies the highest taste of the most educated spirit to the very full. The greatest amateur in perfumes is quite satisfied with the rose: and when the soul has arrived at her highest pitch of true taste, she shall still be content with Christ, nay, she shall be the better able to appreciate Him. Heaven itself possesses nothing which excels the rose of Sharon. What emblem can fully set forth His beauty? Human speech and earth-born things fail to tell of Him. Earth's choicest charms commingled, feebly picture His abounding preciousness. Blessed rose, bloom in my heart for ever!

Salvation

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 -
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation
by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or
sleep, we should live together with him.

John 1:12 -
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

John 3:16 -
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Acts 4:12 -
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Romans 5:8 -
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 6:23 -
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 10:9-10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Happening in Our Country

I have tried to keep politics separate from my blog, but today there are a few articles I want to share with you. I do keep the Fox news on most of the time, and I read about news on the internet, in addition to all my blog browsing. I believe since I have gotten my computer, I have become an activist. I found these articles in The Source Daily.

One of my friends said there should be an outcry about this. She said if it had been a Muslim, it would be all over the news. I have some crosses in my windows that may offend someone, especially an atheist. If this can happen at a government owned property, couldn't it be possible that our homes might later be included?

The Holy Ghost

Acts 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.

Rich were the blessings of this day if all of us were filled with the Holy Ghost. The consequences of this sacred filling of the soul it would be impossible to overestimate. Life, comfort, light, purity, power, peace; and many other precious blessings are inseparable from the Spirit's benign presence. As sacred oil, He anoints the head of the believer, sets him apart to the priesthood of saints, and gives him grace to execute his office aright. As the only truly purifying water He cleanses us from the power of sin and sanctifies us unto holiness, working in us to will and to do of the Lord's good pleasure. As the light, He manifested to us at first our lost estate, and now He reveals the Lord Jesus to us and in us, and guides us in the way of righteousness. Enlightened by His pure celestial ray, we are no more darkness but light in the Lord. As fire, He both purges us from dross, and sets our consecrated nature on a blaze. He is the sacrificial flame by which we are enabled to offer our whole souls as a living sacrifice unto God. As heavenly dew, He removes our barrenness and fertilizes our lives. O that He would drop from above upon us at this early hour! Such morning dew would be a sweet commencement for the day. As the dove, with wings of peaceful love He broods over His Church and over the souls of believers, and as a Comforter He dispels the cares and doubts which mar the peace of His beloved. He descends upon the chosen as upon the Lord in Jordan, and bears witness to their sonship by working in them a filial spirit by which they cry Abba, Father. As the wind, He brings the breath of life to men; blowing where He listeth He performs the quickening operations by which the spiritual creation is animated and sustained. Would to God, that we might feel His presence this day and every day.

Cute Little Creature

There is a hole in my sidewalk that used to be very small, but has grown much larger. I put water in it , because the birds and squirrels like to drink from it. Well, today I happened to look out the front door, and there was a little chipmunk trying to drink water. His little head was way inside the hole, so I went out and added more water.

Friendship Fridays

My friend, Deborah, at Songs from my Journey, has started a new feature on her lovely blog. She will be introducing fellow bloggers on Fridays. I am blessed that she has chosen me for this week. She and I have a lot in common, including our love for the Lord, the King James version of the Bible, flowers and songwriting. She writes beautiful songs, is recording a CD, and she has published a book. You will enjoy her inspirational blog. Thank you, Deb.

Lovely Magnolias

While out driving around the other day, I noticed the beautiful magnolia trees. Then on the way home, I saw a large one beside the Moravian Church. So when I went back out a few days later, I took my little camera with me and had to stop in their driveway to make some pictures. The blooms were beautiful with a lovely fragrance.

Thank you for looking at my pictures.

God's Thoughts

Psalm 139:17
How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God.

Divine omniscience affords no comfort to the ungodly mind, but to the child of God it overflows with consolation. God is always thinking upon us, never turns aside His mind from us, has us always before His eyes; and this is precisely as we would have it, for it would be dreadful to exist for a moment beyond the observation of our heavenly Father. His thoughts are always tender, loving, wise, prudent, far-reaching, and they bring to us countless benefits: hence it is a choice delight to remember them. The Lord always did think upon His people: hence their election and the covenant of grace by which their salvation is secured; He always will think upon them: hence their final perseverance by which they shall be brought safely to their final rest. In all our wanderings the watchful glance of the Eternal Watcher is evermore fixed upon us-we never roam beyond the Shepherd's eye. In our sorrows He observes us incessantly, and not a pang escapes Him; in our toils He marks all our weariness, and writes in His book all the struggles of His faithful ones. These thoughts of the Lord encompass us in all our paths, and penetrate the innermost region of our being. Not a nerve or tissue, valve or vessel, of our bodily organization is uncared for; all the littles of our little world are thought upon by the great God. Dear reader, is this precious to you? then hold to it. Never be led astray by those philosophic fools who preach up an impersonal God, and talk of self-existent, self-governing matter. The Lord liveth and thinketh upon us, this is a truth far too precious for us to be lightly robbed of it. The notice of a nobleman is valued so highly that he who has it counts his fortune made; but what is it to be thought of by the King of kings! If the Lord thinketh upon us, all is well, and we may rejoice evermore.

"Jesus Shall Reign"

Jesus Shall Reign where'er the sun
Does his successive journeys run;
His kingdom spread from shore to shore,
Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

To Him shall endless prayer be made,
And endless praises crown His head;
His name like sweet perfume shall rise
With ev'ry morning sacrifice.

The Choir by Paul Barthel

People and realms of ev'ry tongue
Dwell on His love with sweetest song,
And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on His name.

Jesus Preaches the Sermon on the Mount by James Tissot

Blessings abound where'er He reigns;
The prisoner leaps to loose his chains;
The weary find eternal rest,
And all the sons of want are blest.

Heaven Of Angels by Catherine Andrews

Let every creature rise and bring
His grateful honnors to our King;
Angels descend with songs again,
And earth repeat the loud amen!

Words: Isaac Watts (1719)
Music: John Hatton (1793)

More Thoughts

These are more scripture verses saved for blog ideas.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my
ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the
earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts
than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9, King James Version

He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous
shall flourish as a branch.

Proverbs 11:28, King James Version

When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to
be at peace with him.

Proverbs 16:7, King James Version

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall
abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Proverbs 19:23, King James Version

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that
feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Proverbs 31:30, King James Version

For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy
life shall be increased.

Proverbs 9:11, King James Version

I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold
thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the
people, for a light of the Gentiles;
-- Isaiah 42:6

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost
parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right
hand shall hold me.
