Really Severe Thunderstorm

The other day, we had a very bad storm. I was on the way out to eat late one afternoon. I heard storm warnings for surrounding counties on the radio. After eating at the bagel shop, the sky was really dark, and a storm was coming up, so I went into Staples. I saw all kinds of damage on the way home. I was hoping and praying that the big trees around my house had not fallen on the house. When I turned into my street, I saw a tree (smaller than mine) on a neighbor's roof. Big limbs were down in my back yard, and lots of limbs in the front from my two big trees. Later, I heard popping, saw sparks and smoke at my two neighbor's houses beside me. I believe it was a transformer, and lines were down in their yards. Then my power went out. When I called, they said it would be be fixed by Sunday night at 11:00PM. It involved four houses. I saw the power company come down the street, so I thought I would just stay here with candles and flashlights, hoping they would fix it soon. I opened the window in my bedroom, and it was cooler. I think so many people called that they fixed it by 9:30AM the next morning. The neighbor's beside me are in their 80's, and one is not well. The mess is still in the back yard!
I believe I will just have to have those huge tree limbs cut in the fall. I know it will be so expensive.

Please no "Mother Nature"

I am the Light

I don't know about you, but it really disturbs me to hear a weather forecaster talking about help needed from mother nature. I heard part of a sermon about the providence of God. The preacher was also referring to some awesome things God had done in early battles for George Washington and some others. He was talking about God riding upon the storm, His footsteps upon the sea, and how He rides upon the shore. Some Bible verses I hear I think are awesome.

I looked up some verses ~

2Sa 22:12 -
And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.

Job 20:6 -
Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;

Job 22:14 -
Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

Job 26:8 -
He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

Job 36:29 -
Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?


Job 37:16 -
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?

Severe Thunderstorm

We were blessed this afternoon with a very refreshing rain. We have had a drought for awhile now. Grass was turning very brown. I heard on the weather report that winds were 60 to 70 mph, and I did hear some sirens. After the storm, it felt so cool outside that I did not mind picking up all the sticks and branches. Temperatures have been in the 90's, so 70's are quite a relief. I heard a man on our local radio station say he was so excited about the rain, he felt like walking home. And of course, I did take my little camera outside to take some pictures. It is so nice to have time to enjoy God's beautiful creation. I did another post on refreshing rain here. Recently we had a few days of much needed wonderful rain. I know it seems I am preoccupied with the rain topic, but we have really had a shortage. My friend asked if I had posted this hymn, so I thought it would be appropriate. Thank God for His refreshing rain.

Refreshing Rain

I went outside today after some much needed rain. My little flower garden looked very refreshed. During the summer, when it was so dry, I did a post about rain here.

Psalm 104:13 -
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.

Psalm 68:9 -
Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

Acts 14:17 -
