Lo! How a Rose E'er Blooming

There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, Isaiah 11:1

Lo, how a Rose e'er blooming From tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse's lineage coming As men of old have sung.
It came, a Flower bright, A mid the cold of winter,
When half gone was the night.

Heilige Nacht
Heilige Nacht

Isaiah 'twas foretold it, The Rose I have in mind;
With Mary we behold it, The virgin mother kind.
To show God's love aright She bore to men a Savior,
When half gone was the night.

This Flower, whose fragrance tender With sweetness fills the air,
Dispels with glorious splendor The darkness everywhere.
True man, yet very God, From sin and death He saves us
And lightens every load.

Thank you, Sharon, and you're welcome. It really is not a song that I knew. But the Rose caught my attention, and I think the lyrics are lovely. Maybe it's because I wrote a Christmas song "Like A Rose." :o)

Very,Very nice. That rose is beautiful and so are the lyrics.

Thank you, Nancy. I had to change the rose picture. I had a beautiful real white rose on a short stem, but it didn't fit in with the other pictures.

you did a wonderful, inspiring job, Cathy ... loved it ... and i love this time of year when we can bring Jesus into the forefront of folks who wouldn't otherwise talk about anything spiritual! :o)

Amen! Thank you, Saija. Now I just love that hymn. :o)

I couldn't get to the music, Cathy, but the words are wonderful and your pictures are breathtaking! Thanks for the blessing. I agree with Saija that one good thing about this time of year is that we can exalt Jesus all the more.

Cathy said...

Yes, Maxine, I like the "all the more" part. We do try to exalt Him. Thank you for the kind words and for visiting. :o)

I love this hymn, Cathy! We sing it at home, but I can't think of the last time we sang it at church. Your illustrations are beautiful. That rose is just gorgeous and reminds me of the tenderness and perfection of Christ. Beautiful!
