Fall in the Air

No spring, nor summer beauty hath such grace
As I have seen in one autumnal face;

—John Donne (1572–1631) "Elegy IX: The Autumnal"

There is music in the meadows, in the air–
Autumn is here;
Skies are gray, but hearts are mellow,

—William Stanley Braithwaite, (1878–1962)
"A Lyric of Autumn," Lyrics of Life and Love (1904)

The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.

—Emily Dickinson (1830–1886) "Nature XXVII, Autumn"

I found the Fall Poetry here.

Thank you, Mimi. I guess so, I chose the picture before this post. Our leaves are falling off the trees, because it has been so hot and dry. This morning I am about to freeze myself! I think it got down in the 40's last night.

I can't let my husband see the picture of those two dogs.

They are exactly the kind he has wanted and since our beloved kitty died, he's been talking... dog!

However, we still have another elderly cat at home and a dog would give her heart failure. :)

Love the pictures and the poetry.

Cathy, being a dog lover, I really like the beautiful Fall picture of the two dogs! Your poetry is a wonderful complement to the pictures you post!

Brenda, They are sweet dogs, that's probably why I chose the picture. Yes, the elderly cat would not be happy. :) Thank you, and I'm glad you came by. :o)

Surfin Grandma, Thank you so much for your kind words. :o)

Oh, how I miss the changing leaves! Here in S. Florida, the only changing leaves are the palm fronds that drop off!
Those were beautiful poems! Emily is wonderful!

Thank you, dear Kelli. Glad to have you visiting again. I'm having some issues with my computer. Just thought I would make a note of that! Something is running that should not be, and the virtual reality keeps saying it is low. :o(
