I'll Fly Away - Allison Krauss

When I used to sell music, Allison Krauss was very popular. Here is one of her pretty videos of the hymn "I'll Fly Away."

We used sing that song in Church when I was growing up! I love this song!
Funny how all the songs you play on your blog, I know all of them. We must belong to similar or the same denomination.

Hi Cathy,

Yes, I did win Deby's drawing! I was shocked --- I didn't even enter until last evening (although I've read her blog for a long time now). Pretty exciting to win!

Thanks for the beautiful Allison Krauss video. Doesn't she have a beautiful voice?

Sometimes I try to tend to other people's business. :o) I'm glad you won. You are welcome, and yes, her voice is beautiful. No wonder she is so popular.

Hey Cathy!
It's great to hear this old hymn of the church. We sang it all the time in my culture. We sang it a little different with a lot of cheerful soul in our voices. Often people still sing it at funerals. I really like this video with the birds!

Hey, Maxine, I'm glad you enjoyed the hymn. I remember singing it at a funeral of a friend from church, who died from cancer. I was looking for something by Allison Krauss, and guess I wanted a different kind of music, like bluegrass. :o) The last time a showed Contemporary Christian, Mimi asked if I was "going Contemporary Christian on her." lol

This is one of my favorites and I was very pleased to hear Allison Krauss' bluegrass version. I'll have to look up more of her music. Her voice really is lovely.
Near to the Heart is also a favorite. Just beautiful words. We seem to love so many of the same hymns. Thanks for sharing the words and music. As Mimi said, you made my heart soar watching the birds and wonderful scenery...along with that uplifting music :)
So glad you visited. Thanks :)

Cathy - I have a friend who is dying of cancer and hasn't much time to go. He was awarded many pins and accolades in Sunday school as a child, married and had a son then decided he was gay and spent most of his adult life as an alcoholic homosexual. He has a very good heart and I want to help him in his final days. His birthday is Wednesday - he will be about 55. I want to help him in these final days. He has lung cancer that has gone into his liver. I wish he could see Allison Krauss' video on the big screen - I don't know how to find a dvd or something it to send it to him, do you? I hope you will offer me some advice as to what else will be a kind reminder of Jesus' compassion and forgiveness so that he may find rest, healing and salvation in our Lord's embrace. I think he believes it is too late for him to have Christ's forgiveness and acceptance of him. I have never posted a comment on a blog before. I hope I get it right. If not, please let me know what to do better. Yours in Christ - Nancy

Nancy, That is very sad. This video is very popular, and that hymn is often used at funerals. I used to work at Wal-Mart, and I sold Allison Krauss CDs. She has some Christian ones that would have that hymn, I'm sure. You might even be able to find one of her DVDs with that hymn on it. It sounds like you are doing what you can to minister to him. There is a wonderful website that I use to search for scripture-searchgodsword.org. I hope you can find some scripture that will speak to him. Psalms might also be good to read.
It is a very personal thing between him and God. Thank you for commenting. Blessings ~

Nancy,
Ro 10:9 -
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
We also need to repent.
